Stay Cool With Water Aerobics Print E-mail

ImageRecently, I re-discovered my great passion for water aerobics, also known as aqua aerobics, as a terrific form of exercise. I can't think of a greater exercise, which raises your heart rate and doesn't even involve sweating!

Water aerobics can benefit everyone. Shape, size, or age does not matter. It has very, very low impact which makes it much easier on your joints than traditional forms of aerobics. Beginners and experienced exercisers alike can benefit from this type of workout, as you control your intensity level.

A typical water aerobics class is similar to other forms of aerobics, since you you will have warm ups, stretching and cool down exercises. If done correctly, water aerobics can be very beneficial. They will help your body burn more calories and help you to lose weight and feel better. They help to improve the cardiovascular muscles. These exercises are done in chest deep water and really do help to strengthen your muscles. Your muscles will become more flexible while you are building up their strength. The resistance that the water provides helps out in this area but does not put pressure on your body that can cause you to become sore. A good class will give you an entire body workout.

You can easily burn up to 360 calories per hour by working at your target heart rate in the average water aerobics class! You control the intensity and the water provides the resistance. Basically, if you want to get in shape in a fun, exciting and safe way, then water aerobics may be what you are searching for, you should give it a try. Call your local YMCA, health club or school district to inquire about possible classes available in your area.

For experienced exercisers or those wanting a greater challenge, check out our Marketplace for some great products to help you intensify your water workouts.
